In relation to the social work of the PINK Foundation, the director of PINK Albena, has been through a two-year Masters program in Managing Institutions for Social Work at Sofia University and successfully defended her diploma thesis on: Development of Social Services in Public Support Centers, Managerial Challenges and Solutions. The subject covers an empirical study in 5 centers in Bulgaria (including the Pink House in the town of Tran). 99 people were consulted on the development of social services, including 5 managers, 23 employees, 49 users and 22 family members. On the basis of the obtained results were made conclusions and recommendations for improving the management practice in the public support centers. Albena’s main goal was to study the current state of the centers and the practice of developing social services. The suggestions for improvements are related to the needs of children, the quality of services, interaction with other institutions at the local level, innovative services, ways of financing and cooperation with parents or relatives.
On the whole, the services offered in the centers are liked and sought by consumers, but the teams encounter difficulties and challenges, which requires a more serious approach to work, decision-making, knowledge of legislation and sustainable strategies for the development of long-term social services .
The PINK Foundation will use the results of the research for the full development of the social services it offers and for innovative activities aimed at implementing and achieving the Foundation’s mission and vision. The results will also be posted in the electronic magazine for social work of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.
