Collaborating and learning from different organizations is one of the goals of our foundation. From the 22-25 of January the director of PINK Albena, has been making connections and visited three centers for community support in the towns of Kustendil, Tran and Sofia. Her goal was to meet with the leaders and workers, as well as to interview parents and kids who are using the social services of these centers. In four days she visited two community support centers in Kustendil located in the Roma quarter “Iztok” and ‘St. Petka’ which is located downtown. Another was located in the center of Tran called ‘Rainbow’. Albena administered questionnaires and held interviews with 23 workers, 5 leaders, 49 users and 22 parents. She also visited and interviewed the workers of ‘SOS Chance’ center for public support in Sofia. The goal of the survey is to create a data base connected to the quality of social services offered in these centers for community support. Albena was impressed by the work of the people she met, their attitude towards the children, the material base used in their activities towards prevention of violence and abuse of children at school both at home and on the street.
In addition to these centers, Albena visited a home for people with physical disabilities ‘Ilyo voivoda’ in Tran. She has a long-standing friendship with the director and some of the residents there, in the spring PINK will invite some of them to come and teach our children in Tran to play Boccha. This game is designed for people with very severe disabilities however it is suitable for the able bodied, making this a fun way to interact in each other’s lives.
